Announcing the 4th Video-Poem Marathon in Indigenous and Minoritised Languages

The Translation and Linguistic Rights Committee (TLRC) of PEN International is organising a new Video-Poem Marathon in Indigenous and Minoritised Languages. Videos will be launched during a whole month, starting on February 21st (International Mother Language Day) until March 21st (World Poetry Day).

For the last three years, the TLRC has gathered more than 110 poems from every continent. We believe it to be an essential way to make visible linguistic communities and works of literature that are too often neglected.

Discover the 2023 Video-Poem Marathon on the TLRC’s Facebook and Youtube channel.

Participate in the 2024 Video-Poem Marathon

To participate, we ask you to film a short poem (max. two minutes) read in the original indigenous language, without translation. Together with the video file, please send a written version of the poem in the original language and a translation in at least one of the official languages of PEN International (English, French, or Spanish) for subtitling.

The video can be filmed with a mobile or a webcam horizontally (landscape mode), ensuring the sound quality is good.
Submissions should also include a brief outline of the author and language.

Those willing to participate, please send an expression of interest email to pen.tlrc@gmail.com prior to recording.

Deadline: February 14th, 2024
