White Rabbit, Red Rabbit Performed at Holt Festival in aid of PEN International

At this year’s Holt Festival PEN International was delighted to be the chosen charity for a rare live performance of the internationally acclaimed White Rabbit, Red Rabbit by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour.

With no rehearsal, no director, a script waiting in a sealed envelope on stage and a different actor every time it’s performed, White Rabbit, Red Rabbit is an audacious theatrical experiment and a potent reminder of the transgressive and transformative power of theatre.

The play has been performed all over the world to universal critical and audience acclaim and has become a multi award winner. British actor and writer Stephen Fry introduced the performance of White Rabbit, Red Rabbit before handing the script to John Hurt in front of a full house at the 6th annual Holt Festival. This cold reading of Soleimanpour’s extraordinary play, which demands that the actor has never seen the script before, was performed in aid of PEN International and was an immediate sell-out and huge success.

PEN International would like to thank all involved in this charity performance in aid of PEN’s work.
