Creative Writing – Paving the way for social change. Through this project PEN Bosnia will use literature and linguistic studies as a bridge to connect young people (17-24) from divided and fragmented communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH); the project aims to address existing divides between different communities in post-war BIH. PEN Bosnia will organise a series of literary workshops for young writers that will focus on literature, language and human rights.

The students will use textual analysis and creative writing to explore what it means to be an activist and a writer, to create dialogue between opposing views and create a platform where the students can exchange ideas, experiences and cultural values. The workshop will also bring the students together with PEN members, teachers, local journalists, writers and publishers both at the workshops and informal evenings to have an opportunity to learn about publishing, professional development and writing as a means to promote universal human rights.

PEN Bosnia will be working with Institut Francaise Sarajevo to send a number of the young for a literary residence in France to work further on their literary projects as well language skills.
