6th Indigenous and Minoritised Languages Videopoems Marathon
Call for Submissions — Deadline: 14 February 2026
To mark International Mother Language Day on 21 February 2026, PEN International’s Translation and Linguistic Rights Committee invites writers, poets, storytellers, and language advocates to take part in its 6th Video-Poem Marathon.
This global initiative celebrates linguistic diversity and brings visibility to Indigenous and Minoritised languages that are too often ignored or endangered. Every video-poem — however small — helps revitalise a language and has a positive, empowering impact on its linguistic community. Seeing these languages alongside many others, whether widely spoken or at risk, reminds us of their value and strengthens our collective sense of identity.
What to submit
Video: A video of the poet reading or reciting their poem in the original language only
Length: 30 seconds to 1 minute (maximum 1:30)
Format: Horizontal (panoramic) format (1920 × 1080), keeping the frame wide with space on either side, and look directly into the camera
Editing: No editing or post-production — simply the poet and the poem
Audio: Clear audio is essential
What to include (as attachments)
A text file with the poem and its translation(s)
Two columns side by side (original + translation)
If the poem uses a non-Latin script, add a third column with a transcription
A short context note (maximum 250 characters) about the language or community
