New Voices, Shared Future - Young Writers Committee Event
PEN International’s 91st Congress opened with a dynamic evening led by the Young Writers Committee in collaboration with the Tomorrow Club, celebrating emerging voices and imagining a shared literary future. At a moment when young voices around the world are rising yet too often silenced, the event created space to listen, connect, and amplify.
Writers and poets, including Committee Chair, Ayi Renaud Dossavi-Alipoeh (PEN Togo), Board Member, Ege Dündar, Selma Skenderović (PEN Slovenia), Gerardo Montoya (PEN Argentina), and Wongani Nyasulu (PEN Malawi) shared work on political repression, ecological collapse, inequality, and the struggle for free expression, alongside reflections on their local projects and personal journeys. The evening closed with an open floor for the audience to add their own voices to the conversation, through poetry that shared resistance through the mother tongue.
