Medhanie Haile

Medhanie Haile was the deputy editor of the Keste-Demena Newspaper. At the time of his arbitrary arrest in September 2001, he was a lawyer working for the Eritrean Ministry of Justice.

He wrote articles calling for the establishment of the rule of law in an independent Eritrea. Eritrean authorities have consistently refused to disclose information about Haile’s whereabouts and state of health.
